It’s about your love for Pinterest pictures that borders on obsession. And we will admit that we too love a good Pinterest inspiration. An entire board dedicated to gorgeous interior design pics that would be fit for a Queen or the board we have kept hidden because it’s the wedding of your dreams and you’re single. But we have to take a step back and remember that we are unfortunately not Kate Middleton and being the peasants we are, can not afford that Pinterest dream wedding that only exists in, dreams.
The thing about these Pinterest photos is that they are mostly professionally staged, lighted and photographed. It’s the best of the best crammed into a photo to show you that you NEED that gold plated baby crib, that a wedding without 1 million flowers is no wedding at all, and alas (the reason we are here) that you HAVE to have that thick, luscious, slightly wavy, perfectly cool toned hair that the model in the picture you’re showing your hairstylist has. Not only that, but you would also like to have a ring light and professional photographer walk around with you from now on. If we sound bitter it’s because we are. We also want to look like that model with the perfect hair and probably perfect life. But again, we aren’t Kate Middleton, and neither are you. (But Kate, if you’re reading this, HEY GIRL!!! Gorgeous wedding, great job)
Now, this doesn’t mean that we don’t love inspiration pictures because we REALLY do. We need them in fact! It’s so nice when a client has a clear idea of what she wants and can show us a picture during the consultation. It’s so important to ensure the end result is the desired result. But that being said, we can’t wave a magic wand and change your hair texture or perfectly curl your hair every morning. There are a few reasons your Pinterest hairspiration looks so incredibly flawless. One reason being because it’s just a picture. It’s a snapshot of what that hair looks like in a certain lighting, in a certain style and tousled to perfection. That model will wake up tomorrow with messy hair and even slightly different tones depending on what lighting she’s under, which brings me to reason two, lighting. Lighting makes a massive difference in hair color. My hair looks like a brassy mess in my cheap yellow bathroom lighting but put me in front of a ring light or outside on a sunny day and I am officially stunning. Or at least above average but my hair IS stunning. And lastly but most importantly (PLEASE PAY ATTENTION LADIES) that model in your Pinterest pic may be on her fourth color session or her fiftieth for all we know. It often takes time, patience and money (yikes, we know that’s not what you wanted to hear) to achieve hair greatness.
What I’m trying to say is that we can give you the hair of your dreams and as close to your Pinterest inspo as humanely possible, but, it may require some styling on your part, good lighting, and most importantly, time. But with patience and understanding we will deliver your ultimate hair dreams. And when we do, you better believe we will be getting out the ring light and posting your picture all over Pinterest. Who knows, maybe our next client will be obsessing over YOUR picture that they saved to their “Hair Goals” board.
Until next time,
The ladies and one gentleman of Olive
